Description
Annual, biennial and perennial, size varies depending on species. Leaves are lobed, toothed and pointed. Flowers are purple / blue / red / yellow / white, have five petals and grow in a spur.
Concern Level
Only during drought conditions, unpalatable, however high toxicity makes delphinium always a threat.
Toxic Parts
All parts of the plants are toxic.
Symptoms
Burning and irritation of mouth and throat, diarrhea, weakness, muscle spasms, paralysis of respiratory function, convulsions, death.
Danger
Contains delphinine and ajacine alkaloids which can be fatal.
