Description
Evergreen palm like tree. Lives are glossy green and divided into small leaflets. Pollen grows erect in a cone, seeds are large, meaty and yellow / tan.
Concern Level
Only during drought conditions, unpalatable. Often found in ornamental planting and landscaping.
Toxic Parts
All parts of the plant are toxic, highest concentration of toxin in the seeds.
Symptoms
Occur within one to two days of ingestion and include gastrointestinal upset, diarrhea, lack of coordination, liver failure, seizures.
Danger
Contains glycosides and amino acid BMAA, if enough is ingested it can be fatal.
