Description

An Annual that grows anywhere from six to fifteen feet. It’s leaves are large and palmately lobed. Variations have different coloring:
Black-purple
Dark red-metallic
Bronze-green
Maroon
Bright green with white vein
Green
All have spiny, red fruits

Symptoms

Develop between 12-48 hours after ingestion; loss of appetite, excessive thirst, weakness, colic, excess sweating, lack of coordination, problems breathing, depressed nervous system and fever. Once condition is in final stages bloody diarrhea, convulsions, coma and death.

Danger

Ingestion of an ounce of seeds can be lethal.
