Like most miniature horses, they are of pony size, but carry horse conformation and this breed is considered among the smallest in the world. Unfortunately they are an endangered species, but there have been efforts to save them in the 21st century. <\/p>\n<p>Said to be descendants of wild horses left in Europe after the last Ice Age. They are part of a family of small horses that spread far enough to include Caspian horses. Their widespread footprint a testament to their hardy nature and ability to sustain on poor fodder. <\/p>\n<h3>Good Neighbors<\/h3>\n<p>Inhabitants of Rhodes have long appreciated this little horse, small in stature but large in heart. Robust and versatile they were used for everything from light agriculture to traditional games.
