They come from crossing the <a href=\"\/breeds\/java-pony\">Java Pony<\/a> with <a href=\"\/breeds\/arabian-horse\">Arabian<\/a> bloodlines.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Origins<\/h3>\n<p>Horses were brought to Indonesia around the 7th century and originally of Chinese or Mongolian descent. Centuries in a climate so different from Mongolia has shaped these tough little animals to the area and changed their physical characteristics. <a href=\"\/breeds\/arabian-horse\">Arabian<\/a> blood serves to refine almost any breed it influences and the Periangan is no different. This breed is not listed in the DAD-IS, so is probably considered a variant of the Java Pony.
