The Kosciuszko is a strain of Australian Brumby<\/a> specifically found in Kosciuszko National Park. Of all brumby strains, this one is fairly successful, averaging 3000 members and requiring management to keep their numbers down. The park itself is sectioned into north and south halves, each managed differently, as are the horses. <\/p>\n Each year around 400 animals are rounded up and sent for the production of pet food. Presumably this is what pays for upkeep of the remaining animals, however it’s obviously controversial.
