However there is one thing they all agree on, this is an ancient breed of horse.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Origins<\/h3>\n<p>Whether they are related to the <a href=\"\/breeds\/boulonnais\">Boulonnais<\/a>, come from Celtic animals or have been indigenous to the area since the Ice Age is unclear. The breed comes from Le Perche, which is on the border of Normandy in France. In this area, native mares were crossed with <a href=\"\/breeds\/arabian-horse\">Arabian<\/a> stallions around the 8th century AD.
