Many different countries claim to have given rise to this amazing breed. Essentially they come from the Arabian Peninsula, but their hardy bloodlines have spread wide and far. Often bred by nomadic tribesmen, written records are not always accessible. There are a variety of strains, spread across many countries which are considered pure bred.
