Either way the Donskoi is now considered extinct (whether it was absorbed into the Don or not).<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Origins<\/h3>\n<p>This breed is said to be incredibly versatile and used by the Cossacks, related to Caucasus and Steppe Horses. Both original groups are hardy animals well suited for harsh weather, difficult geography and poor fodder.
