The Bari Pony is not a recognized breed, but a type of the Somali horse<\/a> that is found mainly from the Sanaag region. The origins of this particular type seem to be disputed, while the Somalians claim they are of Somali lineage, the Ethiopians also claim the type is a strain of their Abyssinian horse<\/a>. Initially the Somalians bred them specifically for tribal chiefs and police mounts, today they can be found throughout eastern Somalia and Ethiopia. <\/p>\n The coat is generally chestnut or gray.
