They are similar to the Losa and Asturian breeds. These animals were used primarily for agriculture, however the mechanization of the industry put them out of a job. Today there is a small herd of Navarra ponies living wild but protected, as nature intended with very little human intervention.

According to the DAD-IS the Navarra is listed as endangered maintained and as of 2023 there were 2152 left.

Features

Average height under 14 hands

Physique

Head is medium in size with a straight profile
Ears are small
Neck is muscular and wide
Legs are firm
Hooves are round and strong

Traditional Colors

chestnut, bay and brown with no white markings

Temperament

Lively and dependable

Use

Riding pony

Helpful Links

Official Breeds Catalogue

More Images

Video

Intro Also called the Navarran, Navarrais and Navarre, the Jaca Navarra comes from Navarre which is in the western Pyrenees of northern Spain.

[27
9,126,137
post-905","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-spain","tag-all-colors","tag-at-risk","tag-endangered-maintained
["GET
