The Karacabey Nonius Horse is a breed that originated in the Marmara region of Turkey and they were declared extinct in 1970.

The Karacabey stud was established to breed Karacabey Half Bred Arabian<\/a> horses for use in competitive equestrian sport. The result was a fine animal, but later found inferior to imported European sport types so breeding was discontinued in 1979. <\/p>\n During that time, the Karacabey Nonius was also established, crossing Karacabey to Anatolian Native<\/a> and Nonius<\/a> animals. The result was a slightly larger type, bred specifically for jumping large fences and also useful as a powerful harness horse. Unfortunately, like the Arabian type they were not competitive enough with European stock and breeding was discontinued in 1970.
