Over the centuries, different needs of man and different climates have shaped four different types within the breed, forest, steppe, mountain and Gobi. <\/p>\n<p>Forest &#8211; The largest and heaviest of the types.<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/breeds\/galshar\">Steppe<\/a> &#8211; Smaller, faster and built more for riding.<br \/>\nMountain &#8211; Middle sized and similar in conformation to the Siberian <a href=\"\/breeds\/altai\">Altai<\/a> breed.<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/breeds\/darkhad\">Gobi<\/a> &#8211; A desert horse and the smallest of the types.
