Origins<\/h3>\n
The original Ma\u0142opolski Horse dates back to the 17th century when the local mares began to be influenced by ‘oriental’ stallions (likely Turkomen<\/a> and Arabian<\/a>). This was most commonly found in the historical region of Malopolska, which at one time covered a large part of southeastern Poland. This outside blood influenced local animals for hundreds of years, until mid 19th century. <\/p>\n As is to be expected, the animals in this region became something other than the native animals that once were bred there. During the second half of the 19th century English Thoroughbred<\/a> also left its mark on the breed. However characteristics bred into them by the ‘oriental’ animals bred true remained. <\/p>\n While the modern Ma\u0142opolski is bred as more of a sport horse, the Old Style looks closer to a coldblooded trotter or a heavy warmblood. <\/p>\n The DAD-IS lists them as endangered and as of 2023, there were 610 animals left.<\/p>\n Average height 15.9-16.1 hands<\/p>\n Harmonious conformation Solid colors<\/a><\/p>\n Lively but gentle<\/p>\n Riding *All links open in a new window<\/small>Features<\/h3>\n
