Like warmbloods in most European countries, the Irish Warmblood Horse is registered based on temperament, athleticism and performance instead of breed genetics. These registries are the meritocracy of the horse world.

As they are not based on breed lineage, warmbloods can vary considerably in conformation. Many of the registries throughout Europe accept bloodlines from each others studs. This breed works in association with the KWPN<\/a> (Dutch Warmblood) studbook.
