Late in the 19th century the stud changed ownership and the new owners made some updates to breeding programs. After that time only Thoroughbred and Hungarian Furioso half-bloods were bred to Sárvár mares.

Late in the 19th century, the stud again changed hands and fell under Bavarian ownership. This also brought breeding changes and after this time Furioso blood was the main influence on the breed. Sárvár horses remain a line of the Furioso breed in the Hungarian stud books.

Features

Average height 15.3-16.2 hands

Physique

Head is dry with bright eyes and a straight profile
Neck is well formed and light
Long, sloping shoulder
High withers
Legs are dry and hard
Hooves are well formed

Traditional Colors

Generally brown, bay or black, but can be found in chestnut and grey. White markings are rare.

Temperament

Energetic and intelligent

Use

Riding
Showing

Helpful Links

*All links open in a new window
Deutsche Reiterliche Vereinigung e.V.

Intro Also called Sárvárer, the Leutstettener Pferd or Leutstettener Horse is a rare breed that came from the Leutstetten stud farm in Bavaria until 2006 and now is in the hands of a few private breeders.
