Notable because they are one of the few Chinese breeds of horse that carry the <a href=\"\/colors\/dilution-genes\/champagne\">champagne gene<\/a>. Causing them to be the subject of several genetic studies. They can be found in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu, Qinghai Province.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Origins<\/h3>\n<p>This breed is native to the Yushu region from which it takes it&#8217;s name. In the 1990&#8217;s the Chinese government did a study of the Yushu for meat production.
