The strains vary from country to country based on a variety of factors. In Bolivia, there are two strains, bred for very different environments. The <a href=\"\/breeds\/criollo-altiplanico\">Crillo Antiplanico<\/a> bred high in the mountains and the Criollo Oriental bred in tropical lowlands. <\/p>\n<p>This Criollo offshoot is a hardy type, but tend to be slightly taller and lighter than their mountain counterparts.
