Also known as Belgische Rijpony and Poney de Selle Belge, the Belgian Saddle Pony is a relatively recent breed and mainly used under saddle.

Their studbook was found around the turn of the century and used a foundation of New Forest<\/a>, Welsh<\/a> and Connemara<\/a> ponies as well as Thoroughbred<\/a>.<\/p>\n There are two different types found within the breed. Small, which is a ‘toy’ pony and large, which is more of a sport type. They are registered with the BRp studbook, under the Belgian Warmblood Studbook blanket. As it is such a new breed, they are still relatively rare.
