Intro<\/h3>\n

One of the most important local varieties of Chinese horses, the Debao pony was founded in 1981 and strictly protected by the Chinese Government.

Origins<\/h3>\n

While the Debao was officially recognized in 1981, they are the descendants of an ancient type (the Guoxia<\/a>). Debao county, from which the pony takes its name, is home to one of the largest pony breeding and research centers in the country. This is essentially a pygmy breed and is quite small, however they are incredibly strong for their size. <\/p>\n
