Long-term breeding practices of the Byelorussian Harness have resulted in a breed most suitable for agricultural use. It was well adapted to work in wooded areas with swampy and sandy soil.

Today these animals are actively bred in Pobeda and Zarechye and there are two different types within the breed, large and medium respectively. According to the DAD-IS in 1990 there were 91210 reported animals in this breed.

Features

Average height 14.7 – 15.5 hands
Characteristic conformation of a harness horse

Physique

Head is medium length with a wide forehead
Neck is well muscled
Back is long
Loin is flat
Chest is wide and deep
Legs are solid and clean, with feathering at the fetlock
Mane and tail are thick

Traditional Colors

chestnut | bay | dun

Temperament

Mild tempered
Easy to manage

Use

Meat and milk production
Carriage horse
Light agriculture

More Images

Intro Also called the White Russian Carriage Horse and Belorusskaya, the Byelorussian Harness Horse comes from Belarus and is a breed brought about by local needs.

[68
5,11,30
post-331","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-belarus","tag-bay","tag-chestnut","tag-dun
["GET
