{"id":329,"date":"2010-08-09T01:08:43","date_gmt":"2010-08-09T01:08:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theequinest.com\/breeds\/?p=329"},"modified":"2025-01-28T23:14:57","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T23:14:57","slug":"buryat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theequinest.com\/breeds\/buryat","title":{"rendered":"Buryat Horse"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Intro<\/h3>\n<p>Native to a climate that is incredibly harsh, (there are only about a 100 days a year above freezing temperatures in parts) the Buryat or Buryatskaya is a very tough little animal.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Origins<\/h3>\n<p>Also called Buryat- Mongolian, Transbaikal, Zabaikal&#8217;skaya and Buryatskaya, This breed is one of the smallest horses in Siberia and shares ancestors with the <a href=\"\/breeds\/mongolian\">Mongolian breed<\/a>, although they tend to display more height.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the years severe (and often cruel) training methods combined with selective breeding and an intense natural environment has created an almost indestructible, fertile animal with a long life span.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1897 <a href=\"\/breeds\/english-thoroughbred\">Thoroughbred<\/a> stallions (and some trotters) have been brought to the area to improve the breed.
