Intro<\/h3>\n

Also called the Chernomor and Chernomorskaya, the Black Sea Horse is very rare and extinct in pure form.
\n<\/p>\n

Origins<\/h3>\n

Native to the coastal areas of the Krasnodar region of Russia, the development of the Black Sea Horse began at the end of the 18th century.<\/p>\n

They are of saddle type and carry Arabian<\/a>, Nogai<\/a>, Kabarda<\/a> (among other mountain breeds), Don<\/a> and Thoroughbred<\/a> blood. Throughout the years a great deal of bloodline dilution has occurred in the hopes of strengthening the breed.<\/p>\n

Three types<\/strong>
\nMassive – With blood of light draft breeds
\nLight saddle – Highly influenced by Arabian<\/a>, Don<\/a> and Thoroughbred<\/a> blood
\nLocal – Preserving traits of native mountain horses<\/p>\n

Almost extinct in pure form and the stock has been absorbed into some of the other local breeds.<\/p>\n

Average height 15 – 15.2 hands

Medium sized head with straight or slightly roman profile
\nNeck is medium in length and straight
\nBack is straight<\/p>\n
