These animals are different from most of the Iberian ponies, as their confrmation is more of a small horse than a pony.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Origins<\/h3>\n<p>They are thought to have come from <a href=\"\/breeds\/lusitano\">Lusitano<\/a> and <a href=\"\/breeds\/alter-real\">Alter Real<\/a> horses brought to the islands of Azores during colonization. The poor conditions and inadequate nutrition in the area created a smaller animal naturally.
