By the early 20th century, crossbreeding of the imported animals had created many solid pony types.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Origins<\/h3>\n<p>The main initial contributors to the Australian Pony are <a href=\"\/breeds\/english-thoroughbred\">English Thoroughbred<\/a>, <a href=\"\/breeds\/hackney-pony\">Hackney<\/a>, <a href=\"\/breeds\/welsh-a\">Welsh Mountain<\/a> and <a href=\"\/breeds\/welsh-c\">Welsh Cob type<\/a>, <a href=\"\/breeds\/arabian-horse\">Arabian<\/a>, <a href=\"\/breeds\/timor-pony\">Timor<\/a>, <a href=\"\/breeds\/hungarian-horse\">Hungarian<\/a> and <a href=\"\/breeds\/exmoor-pony\">Exmoor ponies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 1931 the Australian Pony Stud Book Society was formed to establish and document a standard of type.
