Unfortunately there have been no official breeding practices in place, so interbreeding with local animals has caused pureblooded animals to be rare.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Origins<\/h3>\n<p>Named for the Zanskar region, this small mountain horse is similar to the <a href\/breeds\/spiti-pony\">Spiti breed<\/a>, but better adapted to higher altitudes. It is likely they have been influenced by Tibetan breeds found on the other side of the Himalayas. In fact, there may not be many pure blood animals left.
