{"id":1593,"date":"2010-08-13T02:25:11","date_gmt":"2010-08-13T02:25:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theequinest.com\/breeds\/?p=1593"},"modified":"2025-01-31T00:13:38","modified_gmt":"2025-01-31T00:13:38","slug":"vyatka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theequinest.com\/breeds\/vyatka","title":{"rendered":"Vyatka Horse"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Intro<\/h3>\n<p>The Vyatka or Viatka is a native northern breed that comes from of the Kirov and Perm regions of Udmurtia which is a climate well suited for horse breeding.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Origins<\/h3>\n<p>Although this is a native breed, they were influenced by the blood of <a href=\"\/breeds\/estonian-native\">Klepper<\/a> animals during the 14th century. The breeding was poorly managed and not protected, so by the early 20th century they were all but extinct. <\/p>\n<p>Since then, steps have been taken to resurrect the breed as they are thought to be direct descendants of the <a href=\"\/breeds\/tarpan\">Tarpan<\/a>. They carry distinctive primitive marking which becomes diluted after crossing with non-Vyatka animals.
