They are known for their agility and while they are small in stature, they are incredibly strong and often used as cattle horses.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Origins<\/h3>\n<p>Horses originally came to Indonesia with the Chinese around the 7th century and over the centuries each island has shaped their own type. Several other breeds, including <a href=\"\/breeds\/arabian-horse\">Arabian<\/a> and <a href=\"\/breeds\/english-thoroughbred\">Thoroughbred<\/a> have made their way to the nation, providing infusions of quality bloodlines in some areas. Not to mention there has always been cross breeding between islands, particularly those in close proximity to one another.  <\/p>\n<p>The Timor was among the first horses taken to Australia and contributed to the Whaler and the <a href=\"\/breeds\/australian-pony\">Australian Pony<\/a>.
