{"id":1462,"date":"2010-08-10T19:59:29","date_gmt":"2010-08-10T19:59:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theequinest.com\/breeds\/?p=1462"},"modified":"2025-02-12T18:10:59","modified_gmt":"2025-02-12T18:10:59","slug":"strelets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theequinest.com\/breeds\/strelets","title":{"rendered":"Strelets Horse"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Intro<\/h3>\n<p>The Streletska or Stretlets Horse comes from the caucasus family and was developed by breeding <a href=\"\/breeds\/arabian-horse\">Arabians<\/a>, quality <a href=\"\/breeds\/orlov-trotter\">Orlov Trotters<\/a>, <a href=\"\/breeds\/english-thoroughbred\">Thoroughbred<\/a> and <a href=\"\/breeds\/anglo-arabian\">Anglo-Arabians<\/a>. The resulting animal carried the physical characteristics of the Arabians with a larger build.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Origins<\/h3>\n<p>This bred was widely used until the early 20th century when their numbers declined. The few remaining animals were taken to the Tersk Stud in an attempt to up their numbers by breeding them to Arabians as well as some <a href=\"\/breeds\/kabarda\">Kabardin<\/a> and <a href=\"\/breeds\/don\">Don<\/a> crosses. The resulting animals are now known as Tersk Horses. <\/p>\n<h3>Features<\/h3>\n<p>Average height 15.1 &#8211; 14 hands<\/p>\n<h3>Physique<\/h3>\n<p>Head is medium in size with a straight or slightly dished profile<br \/>\nEyes are large and expressive<br \/>\nNeck is medium sized and well set<br \/>\nBack is short, wide and even<br \/>\nShoulder is medium in length and well sloped<br \/>\nLegs are clean with well defined joints<br \/>\nHooves are correct and hard<\/p>\n<h3>Traditional Colors<\/h3>\n<p>Solid <a href=\"\/colors\">colors<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Temperament<\/h3>\n<p>Energetic and can be aggressive<\/p>\n<h3>Use<\/h3>\n<p>Riding horse<br \/>\nSport horse<br \/>\nCircus or stunt mount<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Intro The Streletska or Stretlets Horse comes from the caucasus family and was developed by breeding Arabians, quality Orlov Trotters, Thoroughbred and Anglo-Arabians.
