Intro<\/h3>\n

The Sardinian Horse comes from the island of Sardinia in Italy where there have been horses for century so their origins are essentially unknown.
\n<\/p>\n

Origins<\/h3>\n

There are theories however and they are thought to come from Arabian<\/a> and North African Horses<\/a> which were later infused with Andalusian<\/a> blood in the late 15th – early 16th centuries. However by the early 18th century horse breeding in the area declined.<\/p>\n

According to the DAD-IS they are listed as critical and as of 2023 there were 128 animals left.<\/p>\n

Average height 12 – 12.2 hands<\/p>\n

Physique<\/h3>\n

Head is wedge shaped with a straight or slightly convex profile
\nEyes are large and expressive
\nEars are small andpointed inwards
\nNeck is medium in length, muscular and arched
\nShoulder is muscular and sloped
\nBack is short and can be hollow
\nChest is deep and wide
\nLegs are slender with strong joints
\nHooves are small and sound<\/p>\n
