{"id":1061,"date":"2010-08-09T14:39:10","date_gmt":"2010-08-09T14:39:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theequinest.com\/breeds\/?p=1061"},"modified":"2025-10-31T06:56:22","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T06:56:22","slug":"sanhe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theequinest.com\/breeds\/sanhe","title":{"rendered":"Sanhe Horse"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Intro<\/h3>\n<p>Also called Hai-La-Erh, Hailar, Sanpeitze and Sanho, the Sanhe Horse comes from eastern Inner Mongolia at a grassland basin formed by three rivers (Sanhe means &#8216;three rivers&#8217;) in China.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Origins<\/h3>\n<p>Horses have been in this area for at least the last thousand years and used as war mounts over the centuries. At the turn of the 20th century <a href=\"\/breeds\/zabaikalsky\">Zabaikal<\/a> animals from Russia were brought to the area and about a decade later <a href=\"\/breeds\/orlov-trotter\">Orlov<\/a> and Bechuk animals came with Russian settlers. These three types lent genetics and by mid century a stud farm was established with <a href=\"\/breeds\/anglo-arabian\">Anglo-Arab<\/a>, <a href=\"\/breeds\/arabian-horse\">Arabian<\/a>, <a href=\"\/breeds\/english-thoroughbred\">Thoroughbred<\/a> and American Trotter animals. <\/p>\n<p>In the mid 20th century the Ministry of Agriculture assessed crossbred horses of the area and created stud farms to develop a new breed called the Sanhe.
