They are the closet thing Sicily has to wild horses as a small herd roams Nebrodi Park.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Origins<\/h3>\n<p>These animals are thought to be a cross between <a href=\"\/breeds\/thoroughbred\">Thoroughbred<\/a> and Asian bloodlines, sharing similar genetics with the <a href=\"\/breeds\/giara\">Giara<\/a>, <a href=\"\/breeds\/murgese\">Murgese<\/a>, Sicilian and the <a href=\"\/breeds\/camargue-horse\">Camargue<\/a> as well as <a href=\"\/breeds\/andalusian-horse\">Andalusian<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>An informal studbook has been kept since 1990, when the Italian Government showed an interest in preserving the bloodlines.
