The Vend\u00e9en Horse is a breed of French saddle horse that is now extinct, folded into the Salle Francais<\/a>. Developed late in the 19th century from a foundation of Poitevin<\/a> animals crossed with Thoroughbred<\/a>. Their history is closely linked to the Charentais, which is close genetically. Both types were bred specifically to be robust but agile cavalry mounts.
